NYC Sniffer Privacy Policy
Effective July 22, 2026
The short version: the app has no accounts, collects nothing about you, keeps your favorites on your phone, and only ever sends the search you typed or the coordinates of a nearby lookup.
1. No accounts, no sign-in
NYC Sniffer has no user accounts. You never give us your name, email, or a password, and nothing you do in the app is tied to an identity.
2. No tracking, no ads
The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no cross-app tracking. It does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because there is nothing to track.
3. Location
If you allow location access (used only while you use the app), your coordinates are used to ask the DailyDog API which restaurants are near you. The coordinates of that immediate query are the only location information transmitted, and they are not stored or linked to any personal identifier. Deny location and the app works fully by search.
4. Searches and lookups
Searches and restaurant lookups are served by the DailyDog API. Requests are metered against the app's own service key so we can operate the service — request counts, not people. We do not build profiles of what any individual looks up.
5. Favorites and recents
Your saved spots and recent searches are stored locally on your device only. Delete the app and they are gone. They are never uploaded.
6. The restaurant data
Grades, inspection findings, and enforcement records shown in the app are official city records about food establishments — they describe restaurants, not you.
7. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change (for example, if accounts are introduced), this policy will be updated here first and the effective date below will change.
